Sherlock Holmes and Watson JOKES

  Sherlock Holmes and Dr Watson went on a hunting trip. After a good meal and a bottle of wine they lay down for the night, and went to sleep. Some hours later, Holmes awoke and nudged his faithful friend awake. "Watson, look up at the sky and tell me what you see."

      Watson replied, "I see millions and millions of stars."

      "What does that tell you?" Holmes questioned.

      Watson pondered for a minute. "Astronomically, it tells me that there are millions of galaxies and potentially billions of planets. Astrologically, I observe that Saturn is in Leo. Horologically, I deduce that the time is approximately a quarter past three. Theologically, I can see that God is all powerful and that we are small and insignificant. Meteorologically, I suspect that we will have a beautiful day tomorrow. What does it tell you?"

      Holmes was silent for a minute, then spoke. "Watson, you idiot. Someone has stolen our tent."

TRAPSHOOTING

Trapshooting is one of the three major disciplines of competitive clay pigeon shooting (shotgun shooting at clay targets). The other disciplines are skeet shooting and sporting clays. They are distinguished roughly as follows:

-In trap shooting, the targets are launched from a single "house" or machine, generally away from the shooter.

- In skeet shooting, targets are launched from two "houses" in somewhat "sideways" paths that intersect in front of the shooter.

- Sporting clays includes a more complex course, with many launch points.

Trapshooting is shot throughout the world's countries. Trapshooting variants include but are not limited to international varieties Olympic trap, also known as "International Trap"; Double trap (also an Olympic event),Trapshooting was originally developed, in part, to augment bird hunting and to provide a method of practice for bird hunters in America are then introduce in Malaysia.

Trap machines.

Trap shooting requires the use of a target throwing device(s).

Modern automatic throwing machines can store hundreds of clay targets in a carousel and systematically self-load targets onto the throwing mechanism. Manual electric target throwers require a person in the traphouse with the trap machine, to set the target(s) by hand onto the machine arm. For both of these types, an electrical signal, from the push of a button or a sound activated device, causes the trap machine to throw its targets after the shooter calls for their bird(s).

Temporary or informal trapshooting can utilize other methods to launch targets. The simplest is a "hand thrower" which is a hand-held arm which holds and releases that target when a person swings it. Another type of manual, non-electrical thrower utilizes a spring-loaded mechanism which is cocked and subsequently released by hand or foot.

Ammunition use in Trapshooting

Trapshooting is typically shot with a 12 gauge shotgun. Smaller gauge firearms (e.g. 20 gauge) can be used, but no allowance is given. Trapshooting is shot at either single or double target presentations. This refers to the number of clay targets which are launched simultaneously.

Both general purpose shotguns and more specialized target-type shotguns are used in trapshooting. Examples of trap guns are single-barreled shotgun (such as the Browning BT-99, Perazzi MX-series, Krieghoff K-80, [Kolar] T/A) or a double barreled shotgun such as the Beretta DT-10, Browning XT Trap, and SKB'S. Shooters who shoot all sub-events will often buy a combination-set of a single and double barrel for shooting both singles and double targets respectively. Self-loading (semi-automatic shotguns) are popular for recreational shooting due to the lower perceived recoil and versatility because they can be used for singles, handicap, and doubles. Shotguns used in trapshooting can differ from field and skeet guns in several ways and normally are designed with a higher "point of impact" as the targets are intended to be shot as they rise.

EYE PROTECTION

EYE PROTECTION

I don't shoot. Yet I often read in the magazines about -tinted shooting glasses. Why? What are the different in shooter’s lenses? These are some question people might want to ask from shooters regarding their lenses.  Obviously the shooter’s lenses quite fancy, weird and attractive for some people . Here some tips that will help you to answer your puzzles…..

Shooter's Lenses

Eye protection is essential for anyone using a firearm, whether at a shooting range or in a forest. All firearms have a certain amount of recoil, and many shooting activities take place outdoors where wind, sun and dust also can lead to eye and vision problems.

Handguns are used at distance of an arm's length away while shotguns and rifles are held on the shoulder. The different type of shooting activities occurs in a various distance from the face, which means you should take every precaution to shield your eyes from harm.

Good eye protection is required during organized matches or while shooting on a range. Some range masters allow shooters to wear any kind of eyewear they like, but sometimes certain safety standards are required.

Generic, contoured nonprescription sports goggles are acceptable if you don't require vision correction or if you wear contact lenses. These goggles have a slight wrap around the face and keep out wind and dust.

Features of a shooter’s lenses to make you more comfortable while using a firearm:

1.Interchangeable, shatterproof lenses in colors, clear and light rust for variable lighting conditions.

2.The lenses are certified as highly shatter-resistant, even when hit by a .15 caliber steel fragment fired at a minimum of 640 feet per second.

3.The frame styles generally have a "sweat bar" that runs the width of the frame above the lenses to add stability to the frame for a secure fit.

4.The frames also are made in a rounded shape, to avoid sharp corners that could jab your face.

5.Some brands have special padding on the frame around the eyes. The padding cushions the frame against your face in case the gun recoils too far. This also helps to keep out wind and dust.

Additional Frame Features in Shooting Glasses

5.The temples of shooting glasses often are designed with spring hinges that allow the frame to flex without breaking when recoil occurs. Temples also wrap around the ear in the "cable" style to help keep the frame in place, and the tips of the temples may feature rounded ends to enhance comfort.

6.Nose pads are adjustable so that the frame rests in the optimum position, and soft silicone pads often are used for additional comfort.

7.Some shooting glasses feature bridges that adjust to one of several locking positions so that the glasses are positioned just right for any shot.

8.The frames are constructed of any number of ophthalmic materials, including titanium and other metals, regular plastic and tough polycarbonate.

If you wear a normal lenses never ever switch them to a shooter’s lenses  for daily use…or  unless you are becoming shooter you may choose any shooting lense for you . So I hope these might

WHAT ARE BULLET, CATRIDGE AND CALLIBER

BULLET & CARTRIDGE

A bullet is a projectile propelled by a firearm, sling, or air gun. Bullets do not normally contain explosives, but damage the intended target by impact and penetration.

The word "bullet" is sometimes colloquially used to refer to ammunition in general, or to a cartridge, which is a combination of the bullet, case/shell, powder, and primer.

A cartridge without a bullet is called a blank. One that is completely inert (contains no active primer and no propellant) is called a dummy.

A modern cartridge consists of the following:
1. the bullet, as the projectile;
2. the case, which holds all parts together;
3. the propellant, for example gunpowder or cordite;

4. the rim, which provides the extractor on the firearm a place to grip the casing to remove it from the chamber once fired;

CALIBER

When you hear various numbers being mentioned related to bullets, the number being referred to is what’s called the bullet’s “caliber”. Caliber is a unit of measurement related to a bullet’s size. Specifically, what’s being described is the bullet’s diameter.

To be even more specific, the caliber of a bullet is the measurement of the diameter of the slug (or projectile) part of the bullet cartridge. This is important because in some situations, the bullet casing can be wider than the slug itself. But the caliber is specifically describing the width of the slug portion. Caliber does not refer to the length or power of the bullet, but simply the diameter of the bullet.

The Bottom Line: The Width of a Bullet Determine’s Its Caliber

I know, you’re thinking, “but what’s a twenty-two compared to a nine millimeter?” Well, as with all measurements, there’s the English way and the Metric way of measuring. The metric is simple, a nine millimeter (9mm) is exactly 9mm in diameter. The English measurement is a little different. A twenty-two (or 0.22) is exactly twenty-two one hundredths (22/100′s) of an inch in diameter – or a little less than a quarter of an inch. Similarly, a 0.38 is 38/100′s of an inch, a .50 caliber is a half inch, and so on.

TECHNIQUE TO HOLD AN  AIR RIFLE AND SHOOT

Choose a rifle that fits you.  Give attention for the length and weight that suits you. These are important. You should be able to comfortably hold it steady at ninety degrees to your body (parallel to the floor) without having to rest it on anything.

One method of sighting at home is to bore-sight it. For this you will need a break barrel air rifle. If you do not have one then skip this step. break the barrel just a bit so you can see down the barrel. look down it and aim at a target. Caution: do not look down from the end of the barrel as it can risk eye injury. Once you have picked and aimed at a safe target through the barrel look through the sights and line them up with the same thing while keeping the barrel aimed at the target.

Place the gun into your right shoulder, where it feels comfortable. This applies even if you are left-handed; most rifles are shaped for right-handed users. If you are left-handed and find this uncomfortable, you can buy left-handed rifles.

Place your dominant hand on the grip. Keep your finger off the trigger for now.

Note : the distance from your shoulder to the grip. Your other hand should be about the same distance forward, under the body of the rifle. Don't touch the barrel.

Hold the rifle across your body so that you are standing side-on to the target. This allows you to look along the barrel by simply tilting your head slightly, and is much more comfortable.

Sight on your target. Check your rifle's instructions to learn how to use its particular sight. Most often, you have a small, notched piece of metal at the end nearest you, and a vertical stick (sometimes within a ring) on the end of the barrel. With this type of sight, you have to line the rifle up so that your target point is in the centre of the notch, and then bring the barrel up so the stick fills the notch, with the top of the stick level with the top of the notch. On quite a bit of new rifles you will have two red dots on the side nearest you and a green dot on the end of the barrel. Repeat the last steps the same way. Remember: Back sight, front sight, target.

Take deep breathe . The rifle should rise slightly. Keep the sights lined up as it does so. Then, breathe out slowly and smoothly. As the rifle sinks, the sight will come down onto your target. As it reaches the spot you're aiming at, squeeze the trigger gently.

Note where the shot landed. No sight will be perfect, so adjust. If it landed too high, aim a little lower. If it hit over to the right, aim left.

Keep practicing.
HANDGUN BASIC - SEMI-AUTOMATIC PISTOL

Here are some informations to share about gun. Semi-Automatic Pistol are commonly called as  Automatic or auto. The Semi - Automatic is actully refers to only firearms that fire continously when the triggeris held down. An auto has only 1 chamber, which integral  part of the barrel. It has no cylinder. The cartridges are loaded into a metal magazine or clip.The clip then inserted in the handle of the pistol.The clip cotain a spring, which pushes the cartridges upward for feeding into the chamber.

This is a type of handgun which uses a single chamber and barrel, with a mechanism powered by the previous shot to load a fresh cartridge into the chamber. One round is fired each time the trigger of a semi-automatic pistol is pulled.

A semi-automatic pistol harnesses the energy of one shot to reload the chamber for the next, typically via recoil operation, blowback, or gas operation. After a round is fired, the spent casing is ejected and a new round from the magazine is loaded into the chamber, allowing another shot to be fired as soon as the trigger is again pulled.

When semi auto is fired, the force of the recoil is used to drive back the slide. As the slide flies backward, the empty cartridge case is extracted from the chamber and thrown out through the ejector port. The rearward force of the slide also cocks the hammer.Some don't have hammer.but use a spring-loaded firing pin, like a rifle. The basic principle is still the same.
